We Understand Long Island's Unique Medicare Landscape

Living on Long Island comes with unique healthcare and lifestyle challenges — and we’ve built our approach around helping you navigate them with confidence.

High Cost of Living

We know every dollar counts. Our goal is to help you maximize your Medicare benefits while minimizing out-of-pocket expenses — finding plans that deliver great value without breaking your budget.

Specialist & Hospital Access

Long Islanders deserve access to top medical care. We make sure your coverage includes the area’s most trusted hospital networks — from Northwell Health and NYU Langone to Stony Brook Medicine and Catholic Health.

Snowbird-Friendly Coverage

Many Long Islanders spend part of the year in Florida or other warm destinations. We help you find plans that travel with you, so you’re protected whether you’re in Port Washington or West Palm Beach.

Community-Rated Pricing

New York’s community rating system means your Medigap premiums don’t increase with age — a huge advantage for retirees who want predictable costs and long-term stability.

Common Medicare Questions from Local Long Islanders

Medicare itself is a national program, but plan availability and costs can vary by ZIP code. Here on Long Island, seniors often have access to more than 50 Medicare Advantage and Supplement options, each with different networks and premiums. Hospitals like Stony Brook, Northwell, NYU Langone, and Mount Sinai South Nassau are major factors in determining which plans fit best.

Yes — but it depends on your plan.

  •  Many local Medicare Advantage PPO plans, such as those from Aetna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, and Empire BCBS, let you see doctors both in and out of the network.
  • However, HMO plans require you to stay in-network — so it’s always smart to confirm your primary care doctor and specialists before enrolling.

Among Medicare Supplement options, the most common choices for Long Island seniors are Plan G and High Deductible Plan G. Both offer predictable coverage and the freedom to see any Medicare-approved provider nationwide — no networks or referrals required.

For Medicare Advantage coverage, Aetna Enhanced PPO plans have become the most popular on Long Island, thanks to their large provider network, strong hospital access (including Northwell and Stony Brook), and excellent customer service.

Network access is everything. Some Advantage plans may exclude certain hospital systems or have different tiers for preferred vs. standard hospitals. For example, a plan may include Northwell Health but not Stony Brook University Hospital, or vice versa. Working with a local Medicare broker ensures you know which plans truly cover the providers you trust most.

Every year during the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7), you can review and switch plans. Many Long Island seniors find that premiums and provider networks change yearly, so it’s wise to schedule a local Medicare review even if you’re happy with your plan.

Because local expertise matters. We live and work right here on Long Island, so we understand which doctors, hospitals, and networks serve our community best. Unlike call centers, we represent dozens of carriers and work only for you — not the insurance companies.
